Holiday-Ready Skin: 3 Treatments to Get You Glowing
The end of the year is a time for some of the best celebrations and hottest parties, so of course you want to look your best. Dermatologist Jennifer Baron, MD, and her team in San Jose, California, frequently recommend three treatments to help your skin glow.
Each provides a range of skin improvements to help you look your best, now and in the future. Our line of services covers a broad range of skin care needs, like exfoliation and reversing the effects of photoaging. Today, we’ll take a look at each of these treatments that emphasize results while minimizing downtime.
Photofacials with BroadBand Light (BBL)™ therapy
Unlike cosmetic lasers, which emit single bands of focused light energy, BBL photofacials use high-intensity light over a range of wavelengths to stimulate collagen growth while targeting visual improvements for several effects of photoaging, including:
- Acne
- Unwanted hair
- Hyperpigmentation, such as sunspots
- Rosacea
- Spider veins
- Uneven skin tone
- Loss of skin tightness
Sessions typically last less than 30 minutes and are well tolerated by most patients. You’ll typically feel warmth and a feeling like a rubber band snapping lightly against your skin.
There’s little to no downtime after a BBL session, though you may have some local redness for a few hours. Depending on your aesthetic goals, you may require a series of sessions for more intense results, as well as annual maintenance visits. Talk with Dr. Baron to learn what’s right for you.
HALO® laser treatments
Best suited for acne scarring, dyschromia, fine lines, and wrinkles, the HALO system utilizes a laser platform that produces visible results in approximately one week. More aggressive than BBL, you may experience a couple of days of recovery as the treatment redness subsides, although we can also customize your treatment for reduced downtime.
The beauty of HALO is its customizability. Not every patient has the exact skin treatment requirements, so the custom nature of HALO’s application gives you the right results for your complexion and skin type.
Medical facials
Visiting a dermatologist for a facial provides a series of advantages over the treatment you’ll receive at a cosmetic spa. Instead of a skin type assessment and critical evaluation of your skin’s needs, day spas tend to deliver one-size-fits-all treatments that may be fine for some of your skin care needs, but that aren’t likely to optimize the results you need.
Dr. Baron offers her own line of medical-grade skin care products, providing an excellent home-use complement to your in-office facial. This comprehensive approach often surpasses what spas can offer. A typical combination includes:
- Medical microdermabrasions with extractions
- Retinol treatment, a collagen booster, and a skin tone improver
- Korean face mask, to soothe your face after treatment while deep-nourishing your skin
You’ll notice a brighter, more even skin tone with improved texture in both the short and long term.
